How to manage stress with exercise?/ Stress Management

Exercise plays a very important role in managing stress levels. When we are exercising, our body releases happy hormones like cortisol, adrenaline etc, it significantly improves our mood.

Stress levels are increasing mainly because of demanding lifestyles, chasing deadlines, and unending chores. It is seen that two different people can have totally different approach towards a situation, which proves that although we can’t change the situation, we can definitively change our reaction to it.

In today’s article, we are going to share some basic tips on how you can manage stress levels with exercise.

  1. Wake up early: It is always easy to finish tasks earlier if you have extra time in hand , that ways you can avoid morning rush which is in itself a major reason of stress.
  2. Do Desk exercises: Getting busy in office is no excuse for not doing exercises as now you can do some simple stretches sitting at you workstation only. Raise your arms over your head, turn your body sideways, stretch neck in all sides.
  3. Take frequent breaks: Working continuously becomes hectic and starts to build tension in our muscles. It is advisable to take short breaks between long work hours to rejuvenate and energize . A simple walk to water cooler and sharing a joke with a fellow can uplift mood.
  4. Deep breathing exercises: When we focus our attention on breathing and inhale slowly, we allow our body to slow down. It helps reduce blood pressure and improve sense of self.
  5. Relax before sleep: Giving simple commands to all body parts before sleeping can significantly improve quality of sleep and eliminate stress from our lives. Eg. Say: my legs are relaxing, and breathe in slowly as you exhale imagine stress going out of your body, follow same step for all body parts.
